Life Behind The Lens
*In 2010, I started Amber Shaw Photography and began shooting professionally.
*I seriously cannot go to bed without dessert.
*I fight for animal rights, I don't tolerate breeders, and urge everyone to adopt from shelters.
*I could garden all day, everyday. The biggest garden on the planet wouldn't be big enough to support my obsession.
*I've been to 18 different countries around the globe.
*I want to have an animal sanctuary one day. I also make donations throughout the year to help animals. Each and every one of my clients plays a part in this, I could not make donations without my amazing clients! Most of my donations go to Ching Sanctuary.. seriously, go check them out on Instagram or Facebook! My hubby and I also volunteer weekly at Ching Sanctuary and get to help the sweetest lambs, sheep, goats, cows, chickens, ducks, horses, emus, llama and lots more cuties!
*I listen to music constantly. I'm an alternative/rock kinda girl.
*My hubby and I were vegetarian for a number of years and now vegan for the last few years. Yes, we love plants and generally eat healthy but we also eat our fair share of vegan junk food like vegan wings, Beyond Burgers, and pizza from The Pie.
*My favorite drink on the planet is an iced vanilla almond milk latte. YUM.
*I was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah.
*I'm a die hard for driving manual. End of story. Oh, and I'm utterly obsessed with my car. :)
*I'm a warm weather person. Winter and snow are not my cup of tea.
*I've been married since 2009 to the most patient, supportive guy around.
*You'll never hear me say photography is my "passion". I take my career very seriously as it takes up 110% of my time. I have been OBSESSED with weddings since I was 5 years old. I would run to the magazine section of grocery stores just to flip through bridal magazines while my mother grocery shopped. I knew I wanted to be a part of weddings, but I didn't know what part I would play. During high school, I began working with film, learned photoshop and became the editor of the yearbook. It was soon after that the idea of photography and weddings were married for me.. wow that was cheesy. But you get the story!
In 2008, I met my husband, Alex, thanks to a mutual friend. From the moment I met him, I knew I never wanted to be without him. A few weeks passed after we met, then I saw him again. All I knew was.. I couldn't get this guy out of my head, I needed to do something about it. So I got his number from our mutual friend (who by the way was the best man at our wedding). The day we started talking was the first day of the rest of our lives. Inseparable since then. We were engaged in October of 2009 and married in December that same year. He's the best thing I ever could have asked for. I feel so lucky to have such a supportive person in my life, especially when I keep him up till midnight talking about inspirations, weddings, and color palettes!
I adopted our little guy down below in 2006, 2 months after I graduated high school. It gets me teary eyed just thinking about how much I've been through with him and how much he means to me. We adopted our little guy up above in 2012 when he was 6 months old. He came to a shelter here in Utah from Los Angeles with about 5-6 siblings. From the moment we laid eyes on him we knew he was part of the family.
